Vacancy detection
Voltic considers a room empty when several events come together. This time can be adjusted from the platform and, by default, is usually set to around 10 minutes.
The system records the first event of the exit sequence.
Voltic confirms that someone has crossed the room door.
The configured time passes with no movement inside the room and the system assumes the guest has probably left.
The guest uses the room as usual while the system manages energy in the background.
When the door is opened and closed, Voltic records that there has been an entry or an exit. From that moment, the system checks whether there is real presence inside the room.
If it detects movement, it keeps the room active: lighting, HVAC and automations work according to the configuration defined by the hotel.
The guest doesn't have to do anything different. They walk in, use the room normally and the system works in the background.
When the exit sequence is completed, the system understands that the guest has probably left and applies the automation defined by the hotel. Typically it:
This solves one of the most common problems in hotels: rooms that stay switched on because a card has been left in the card holder.
Voltic doesn't decide based on the absence of movement alone. The system combines information from the presence sensors with the door open and close events.
That's why it doesn't treat a room someone just left the same as a room where the door hasn't been opened for hours. For example, if the guest is sleeping, there has been no recent exit sequence and the system doesn't automatically assume the room is empty just because there is little activity for a few minutes.
This logic reduces unwanted shut-offs and lets detection times be adapted to the hotel's real operations.
If the guest opens a window or balcony door, the sensor detects it. After a configurable time, the system can turn off the HVAC in that room. By default, this time can be about 1 minute, although the hotel can adjust it as it sees fit.
When the window is closed again, the system allows the HVAC to return to normal operation according to the configured mode. In addition, the thermostat can show a visual notice so the guest understands that the HVAC stopped because the window is open.
Voltic lets you control the setpoint temperature and set limits to avoid unnecessary consumption. The guest can keep using the thermostat, but within the ranges defined by the hotel.
This keeps comfort without letting the room run for hours in inefficient conditions. In addition, the hotel can configure different operating modes, such as eco mode, comfort mode or special settings for specific rooms.
From the platform, the hotel can check the status of each room in real time and act remotely.
